Mary E. Ferguson

Mary E. Ferguson was an American born in China. She was an administrator at PUMC for more than 20 years. She was the author of China Medical Board and Peking Union Medical College, a comprehensive account of the early years of both institutions. She considered China her home and was willing to bare personal hardship in order to stay there. However, as the political situation in China became dire, she had to leave China in 1949 and was unable to return to her position at PUMC. Ferguson organized the Yu Wang Fu Association with Dr. Harold Loucks, which wrote a newsletter for alumni of PUMC filled with memories of their activities in China, comments on recent changes in the PRC and at PUMC, and updates on the activities of former colleagues.
